HARLEM LACROSSE PROGRAM

Read this inspiring email from Deborah Hagen about Sean Hagen's and her experience with the Harlem Lacrosse boys:

Wow...what a weekend!!!

It’s amazing what opening your door to others can do for the soul.

When we met Donavon and Sebastian we knew it was going to be an incredible experience. We laughed, shared and hugged one another all within the first hour of meeting....

Although these boys had very sad stories, few possessions and or material items..they were incredibly respectful, loving and appreciative of even the smallest gesture on our behalf.

They loved just being here and spending time with all of us. Time went by too fast for all of us.

Saying goodbye yesterday was tough....

Sean walked back on the bus twice to say goodbye, make sure the boys had his cell number and enough water to drink on the way home. He shook their hands and proceeded off the bus.

Within moments both boys got off the bus again, called Sean’s name and when he turned around, both the boys gave him the biggest hug and said a hand shake wasn’t good enough.

In that moment I felt so grateful to have had this experience. I also thought I was gonna lose it and very thankful I had my sunglasses on!

... I also realized in that moment...here we were, all set and ready to help these boys, give to these boys and show them another side to things but what I wasn’t expecting was what they gave and left us
with...a reminder of what life is truly all about...compassion, empathy and respect for one another know matter what the story presents itself to be...”
