2023-2024 Philanthropy Projects

It was an amazing day for our team, as we gathering donations and put together 80 Thanksgiving food baskets for families in need. We supported a group called CRC (Community Resource Center) who aims to assist those in areas of abuse, shelter, hunger and housing.  Thank you to all who contributed to making today a success!

Our groups helped with a variety of projects, including sorting, cleaning, bagging, boxing food, as well as food distribution.  The San Diego Food bank is an integral program to those in our community who face food insecurity.

About the San Diego Food Bank - Click for More
The Food Bank receives food from a range of sources including locally-run food drives, the USDA, growers, retailers, and wholesalers. Once the food arrives at our warehouse, we rely on volunteers to inspect and sort the food. Food is then categorized by food group and boxed and bagged for distribution to the community.

Approximately 32,000 people volunteer at the Food Bank’s warehouse every year – saving vast labor costs. The Food Bank distributes food directly to families and individuals in need at more than 200 distribution sites throughout the county every month, often in parking lots.

The Food Bank also provides food to more than 500 nonprofits that operate feeding programs. Nonprofits pick up food from the Food Bank’s warehouse and distribute the food to people in need in their areas. These nonprofits include soup kitchens, shelters, churches with feeding programs, schools, senior and disabled living facilities, and food pantries.

The Torrey Pines Lacrosse families supported our Lifetime Teammate Omar Colon's Toy Drive at Rady Children's Hospital.  Hundreds of items such as Lego's, Hot Wheels, Dolls, Books, Arts and Crafts Kits, etc. were collected and delivered to the Oncology Clinic in Omar's Honor.

Thank you to Omar for spearheading this project and bringing smiles to as many children as possible.

The mission of the Jose Montano Foundation is to assist children battling cancer and support their families. “Never Give Up and Always Believe in Yourself” those are powerful words from 13-year-old Jose Montaño, diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, a rare type of malignant brain cancer. Jose was a fighter; the South Bay teenager had been battling brain cancer since April 2011. The young fourth grade student underwent brain surgery to remove a tumor at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego. During his last 3 years, Jose underwent more than 30 cycles of radiation and 32 chemotherapy cycles. While enduring this serious life-threatening medical condition, Jose taught his family, friends and his supporters the true meaning of having faith, looking at the bright side of life, unselfishness, giving from the heart, not losing hope and believing in one's self.
